American Hardcore

Great to see that American Hardcore, the classic book on hardcore punk early 80s style, has been made into a feature-length documentary and will start screenings in September. Look for it.

Also good to see that one of my fave hardcore singers — Vic Bondi of Chicago’s Articles of Faith — is prominently featured in the trailer (and the photo below).

What was great about growing up going to hardcore shows then was the sense of community between band and fans – we were all one excited and ready for action. Today’s rock shows, especially in NYC, are so much about them(the band) and us(fans). There seems to be a missing link of unity AND action! When was the last time you went to a decent rock show that had this kind of action seen below in the pic of Articles of Faith???
