“Hands Up, Who Wants to Die?”
From the first moment you hear these bone-chilling words, you know you’re in the presence of Australian post-punk band The Birthday Party.
This track, “Sonny’s Burning” stuck with me for much of 1983 at parties, mixtapes and raveouts. I saw The Birthday Party perform this on an Easter Sunday night gig at Tut’s in Chicago the same year. Still rings favorably in my synapses. Enjoy the Friday live rock.
